The NSBC approached some of their Premier Members to learn more about how they approached entrepreneurship and becoming a successful small business. Today we will feature Inner Link.
Izabela Ramauthar is the owner of Inner Link and a master trainer of STRUCTOGRAM South Africa. She moved to South Africa under a year ago because she loves the beauty and diversity of this country and she believes in its great potential. Through Inner Link she does corporate communication training based on neuroscience. The focus of her training is to improve the team’s performance through the development of great communication.
Here is what Izabela from Inner Link had to say about success and overcoming tough times in business.
I considered myself successful when I learned that there is no such thing as failure; there are only lessons to be learned.
I attribute my success to my passion and the ability to utilize it, my hard and consistent work, and the sacrifices I have made for the greater good and future. However, all of it would not be impossible if I didn’t have the support of my family. I communicated all my dreams and goals to my husband and I also explained why. He stood by me through a lot and he still stands by me.
I never failed in my business simply because I don’t believe in failing, I believe I have discovered ways that simply don’t work. But if I had not tried I would not know they didn’t work. When one learns a lesson from a challenge it’s never a failure.
There is no one moment that I consider the best. Every single time when a client writes to me or comes up to me and tells me their success story that was inspired by my work then that is a best moment in my business.
What keeps me going are my daily rituals, they remind me that the sun has to go down in order to rise again. When things get tough I take a break, a day or two so that my mind can get reset a bit and I can look at the challenges from a different perspective. I learn all the lessons that come to me and I go on. When things get tough I go back to the emails from my clients, emails full of gratitude, happiness and support. Those emails and messages remind me why I do what I do.
My success habits are linked to my individual personality. I have been implementing a lot of habits in my life, testing and trying but only through STRUCTOGRAM when I understood the structure of my brain and trades that go with it I was able to truly identify habits that were natural and successful for me.
Writing in my journal every single day helps me to start and set my day in the best way possible. I have a list of affirmations I write every day all over again, I write what I am grateful for, and my long and short-term goals. Each component plays a different role but they all are needed in order to work.
I review my day at the end, I ask myself whether I am happy with the day I had. If ‘yes’ why, if ‘no’, why. What can I do tomorrow to be satisfied? I am thankful for all the good things and all the lessons I have learned during the day.
I give great thought to the things I eat. By making conscious choices I know how much energy I will have in the day. Healthy, natural and nutritious food gives me energy and keeps me happy throughout the day. Heavy meals will make me feel very full and slow during the day.
I have learned to take time off. Being a trainer of a system that shows you what your nature is, I have learned to be true to my nature. Working against it makes me miserable and sick. I know what going on for too long can cause. I do make sure I give my body and mind time to reset when I feel it’s needed.
I take a peaceful walk every day. Being alone with nature, no one talking, no phone, no music. Research shows that people would rather take on physically painful experiences than be alone. I treasure and cherish my time alone, focusing on the sounds of nature, the warm sun and light wind on my skin.
I do physical activity at least three times a week. It involves loud and energetic music, this provides my body and mind with a dose of energy.
Well done, Izabela from Inner Link. We hope you will grow from strength to strength.
