The government is initiating and implementing a set of transformative policies to build one of the most business-friendly and people-centred economy capable of bringing prosperity to all.
Professor Yaw Gyan-Baffour, Minister for Planning, says the implementation of the government’s Coordinated Programme of Economic and Social Development Policies (CPESDP, seeks to unleash the creative potentials of the Ghanaian private sector to lead the country’s transformation agenda.
It is important for all key stakeholders to actively participate in the successful implementation of the programme to address the nation’s economic deficits while at the same time, project the agricultural and industrial programmes being introduced by government, to create better jobs and generate decent incomes for the people.
Prof Gyan-Baffour was speaking at the Ashanti Regional dissemination of the CPSESDP programme in Kumasi. It was attended by officers from the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), district planning officers, municipal and district chief executives as well as district coordinating directors.
The CPSESDP is a seven-year (2017-2024) development initiative which had been christened “An agenda for jobs: Creating Prosperity and Equal Opportunity for All”. It outlines the President’s vision for the country and specific programmes and interventions to achieve this vision within the stipulated time.
The intervention programmes include revitalizing the economy, revamp economic and social infrastructure, transform agriculture and industry, social development, leveraging on science, technology and innovation for development among others.
Prof Gyan-Baffour said the President’s vision of “an optimistic, self-confident and prosperous nation, through the creative exploitation of our country’s human and natural resource and operating within a democratic, open and fair society in which mutual trust and economic opportunities exist for all” must be supported for progress.
He said the Ministry would continue to work to ensure the successful implementation of the programme for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
