Speaking on the theme: "Our Taxes, Our Future," Mrs Gloria A. Kudo the Municipal Director of the NCCE called on the public to pay their taxes to enable government to raise enough revenue to undertake developmental projects in the country.

She said tax payment was a civic responsibility of every Ghanaian and so it beholds on all of us to honour our tax obligations to the State so that government can provide the needed infrastructure. 

The NCCE office in La Dade Kotopon has deepened engagements with various Trade Associations, Faith Based Organisations, Artisans, Women’s Groups, Traditional Authorities in La and surrounding communities.

It is also using the local radio stations to reach out to the people and help them to understand why they should pay tax.   She said the taxes paid are also used to resource the security agencies such as the Police and the Fire Service, to help build their capacity in protecting the citizenry in times of disasters.

“Once citizens are up to the task and meet their tax obligations, then they also have the ability to share their views on national development, especially in their immediate environs and hold public officers accountable,” she said. 

She urged all those who are eligible to pay taxes to do so to avoid prosecution.

She acknowledged the La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly for supporting the NCCE in diverse ways to reach out to the communities.
