The Managing Director of Capital & More, Akosua Oduma Oppong-Tawiah in presenting a cheque of GH?35,000.00 to the organisers explained that as a financial institution that is focused on the informal sector, the company saw market women as a very important segment of its customer base. She applauded the initiative and intimated that Capital & More had other big plans for the unbanked population.

Mr. George Ekegey Ekeha, Finance Director of the organisers, thanked the Board and Management of Capital & More for their kind gesture. He implored all corporate bodies to emulate the good deeds of Capital & More by supporting such worthy causes.

The first-ever Market Women’s Day Celebrations will be a unique celebration that will feature a variety of activities, prominent among them being an awards ceremony, a mini- beauty pageant and the cooking competition between various market associations.

Some dignitaries who have pledged their support to the event and have confirmed their participation are the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mrs. Elizabeth Sackey; Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, among others.

The event takes place on Republic Day, Saturday, 1^st July, 2017 at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra. The lead sponsor for the event is Mucaase Foods, producers of Mucaase Tomato Paste.
