The Royal Danish Embassy says a lot of companies in Denmark have expressed the desire to invest in Ghana because the country is conducive for doing business.
“The Embassy has received more and more interest from Danish investors wanting to do business in Ghana, because there are potential opportunities to do business,” said Madam Tove Degnbol, the Royal Danish Ambassador to Ghana.
She said these at the inauguration of a country office for Aller Aqua Group, a Danish aquaculture company, at Senchi Amanfrom in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
The Aller Aqua Group is Europe’s largest producer of environmentally friendly fish feed.
The Ambassador said the embassy’s plan was to continue to encourage Danish investors to invest in Ghana, because there are many potential business avenues in the country to take advantage of.
Madam Degnbol said the embassy had advised the investors to form partnerships with their local counterparts, if they wanted to establish businesses in Ghana and go by the local content policy.
“We are also telling them Ghana is a very interesting country to do business, if only they know how to go around it,” she said.
On challenges, she said land acquisition, frequent powers, infrastructure and demand of illegal fees were hindering Danish investors who come down to business.
She expressed the hope that the investments made by Danish companies would have a positive impact on the development of the country.
The reason why investing in Ghana is reasonable, according to the Ghana Embassy in Denmark, is the country’s wealth of resources, democratic political system and dynamic economy, which makes it undoubtedly one of Africa’s leading lights.
“Gaining the world’s confidence with a peaceful political transition and a grounded and firm commitment to democracy has helped in expediting Ghana’s growth in foreign direct investment (FDI) in recent years,” it said.
Ghana, the embassy said, has attracted the attention of well-known international businesses, investing in all sectors of the economy.
“All these investors have come to Ghana because they know the country has a wonderful conducive social, political and economic environment in which they can invest, grow and be successful,” it said.
