Mr John Tia Akologu, Minister of Information, on
Friday asked Regional and District Information Officers to be non-partisan in the dissemination of government policies and programmes contained in the 2011 Budget.
He explained that education on the budget must deal with the real issues but not on partisan basis, adding" as public and civil servants you
must exercise restraint in the discharge of your duties in order not to renege on your professional ethics".
Mr Akologu made the call when addressing the opening session of a two-day workshop for Regional Budget Officers, Regional and District Information Officers on the dissemination of 2011 Budget Statement and Economic Policy in Accra.
The participants would discuss tax policy issues, sectoral and social programmes.
He asked the officers to appreciate the facts and present them as they were without compromising the truth.
Mr Akologu said the budget was a critical governance tool for resource management and allocation therefore; issues on it should not be distorted.
