Hana Financial Group Inc., South Korea's fourth largest banking group, said Friday its net earnings climbed 10.5 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier due to increased interest income.
Net profit came to 265.1 billion won (US$238.2 million) in the July-September period, compared with 240 billion won in the same period last year, Hana Financial said in a statement. From
the previous three months, the bottom line was up 52.3 percent.
For the January-September period, Hana Financial's accumulated profit reached 739.8 billion won, it added.
Shares of Hana Financial closed at 37,300 won on the Seoul bourse, up 0.54 percent from Thursday's close.
The group said the third-quarter earnings gain is attributable to an increase in earnings in interest and commission income.
The company chalked up 876.4 billion won in interest and fee incomes in the last quarter, compared with 672 billion won a year earlier, it noted.
