The government has decided on a catchphrase -- "Shared growth beyond crisis" -- for the Group of 20 Seoul Summit set to open here in November, the meeting's preparation committee said Tuesday.
The slogan reflects the G-20 as a framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth, and highlights Seoul's summit agendas of pursuing economic development and building a global financial safety net, the committee said.
"We hope the meeting will draw out detailed measures on how to achieve development and build a global financial safety net, and produce at least
three agreements which Korea can take the initiative in," Sakong Il, chairman of the committee, told reporters.
Other summit issues include urging the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to accelerate its quota reform and achieving financial reform, he said.
On Monday, G-20 sherpas and working groups began meetings in Seoul to discuss preparations for the November meeting.
Sherpas are the personal representatives of world leaders for the summit and help shape agendas.
The four-day sherpa meetings and the two-day working group meetings will discuss how to carry out agreements reached in the past four rounds of G-20 summits. They will also address schedules and the direction of discussions on major agenda items for the Seoul summit, according to the committee.
