Libya and the United States signed Thursday a framework trade agreement, the latest milestone in cementing relations between the two countries.
According to Libya's official Jana news agency, the agreement aims for promoting trade and cooperation between Libya and the United States.
Under the agreement, Tripoli and Washington will form a joint council to address issues of mutual trade and investment, including market access,
labor, intellectual property and environmental issues.
The proposed council will be tasked with expanding horizons of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, the report said.
The agreement was signed by Libya's Undersecretary of Committee for Industry, Economy and Trade Taher Sarkes and visiting Assistant U.S. Trade
Representative for Europe and the Middle East Christopher Wilson.
