The annual inflation rate fell to 11.66 per cent in April from 13.32 per cent in March, the tenth consecutive monthly fall, the Ghana Statistical Service said on Wednesday.
"Inflation is the lowest since December 2007", Mr. Ebo Duncan, Head of Economic Statistics told journalists at a press conference in Accra, citing
significant increase in food production for the decline in the rate in April.
"Inflation in the non-food component continues to weigh heavily on overall rate of inflation, contributing 15.82 per cent year on year while
the food component registered 5.81 per cent", Mr. Duncan said.
Inflation rates in the regions range from 6.76 per cent in Eastern Region to 19.32 per cent in Central Region.
Four regions Ashanti, Northern, Greater Accra and Eastern recorded inflation rates below the national rate of 11.66 per cent.
