Setting a model of corporate responsibility, Indian IT major Infosys Technologies has decided to observe 'Earth Hour' on March 27 by switching off
lights throughout its campuses worldwide.
Apart from switching off lights, a week-long energy conservation campaign would be conducted with a range of programmes incorporating various departments, like Security,Facilities and IT, of the company.
According to company sources, joining the world's climate change initiative is to prove company's social responsibility.
Each department would ensure whether the maximum number of lights are being switched off during declared days.
While a special team of 'Infosys Facilities' would monitor the level of energy savings to assess the power consumption before and during Earth Hour, 'Switch-off Kiosks' at food courts to encourage registration and participation in Earth Hour activities.
To create awareness and attract more people to the mission, an Earth Habba (Earth Festival) is being organized, where eco-friendly stalls will be set up to sell green products and services.
An initiative named 'Tips to Take-away by Employees' would impart ten earth-worthy tips to pledge and practice in every day life.
A cultural event 'Fun under Sun' would be held at amphitheatres on campus, would offer a space for participants to exhibit their talent in 60 seconds.
