We are seeking a passionate and skilled Writing & Story Development Lead to oversee our team of writers, ensuring high-quality storytelling, structure, and editorial excellence.
Role Overview
As the Writing & Story Development Lead, you will be responsible for guiding and mentoring our team of writers, maintaining high editorial standards, and refining the structure, pacing, and storytelling of our projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in fiction or memoir writing, editing, and story development.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and provide editorial guidance to MemoirCraft writers to ensure high-quality manuscripts.
Evaluate story structure, plot beats, pacing, character development, and overall narrative arc.
Conduct developmental edits, ensuring both strong storytelling and grammatical accuracy.
Mentor writers by providing constructive feedback and coaching on storytelling techniques.
Ensure consistency in voice and tone across projects while maintaining each author’s unique style.
Proofread and edit manuscripts for grammar, clarity, and coherence.
Collaborate with the publishing and client management teams to align storytelling with client expectations.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in memoir and fiction writing.
Qualifications & Experience
Mid-level experience in writing, editing, or storytelling (fiction or memoir preferred).
Strong understanding of story structure, plot development, pacing, and character building.
Proven ability to proofread and edit for both grammar and story development.
Experience mentoring or coaching writers is a plus.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Passion for storytelling and helping others bring their stories to life.
