JOB SUMMARY
The Transport Manager will oversee the efficient transportation of Agro Commodities from farms in the
various region to the company’s processing or export centers. This role involves managing
a fleet of vehicles, coordinating with suppliers, drivers, and third-party logistics providers,
ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing transport routes to minimize costs
and maximize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fleet Management
○ Manage the company’s fleet of trucks and other vehicles used for transporting
Agro Commodities.
○ Ensure all vehicles are regularly serviced, maintained, and comply with safety
and environmental regulations.
○ Oversee vehicle licensing, insurance, and documentation.
2. Logistics Coordination
○ Develop and manage transportation plans for the timely collection and delivery of
cashew nuts from suppliers.
○ Coordinate with farmers, suppliers, and warehouses to ensure smooth loading
and unloading operations.
○ Work closely with the export team to synchronize transport schedules with
shipping timelines.
3. Route Planning and Optimization
○ Plan and optimize transportation routes to reduce costs, fuel consumption, and
time.
○ Monitor traffic and road conditions to make real-time adjustments to routes when
necessary.
4. Team Leadership and Driver Supervision
○ Recruit, train, and supervise a team of drivers, ensuring they comply with
company policies and safety standards.
○ Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training for drivers on
best practices.
5. Budget Management
○ Manage the transportation budget, controlling costs related to fuel, repairs, labor,
and third-party logistics.
○ Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or delivery
timelines.
6. Compliance and Safety
○ Ensure all transportation activities comply with Ghana’s transportation laws,
safety standards, and environmental regulations.
○ Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents, delays, and losses
during transportation.
7. Documentation and Reporting
○ Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including schedules, vehicle
logs, fuel usage, and delivery reports.
○ Generate regular reports on fleet performance, transportation costs, and delivery
timelines for senior management.
8. Third-Party Relationships
○ Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers
when needed.
○ Ensure external transport partners meet the company’s quality, safety, and
delivery standards.
Working Conditions:
● Frequent travel to farms, suppliers, and transport hubs within the Brong Ahafo region.
● May involve working long hours, especially during peak harvest and export seasons.
