As a Fleet Manager, will be responsible for overseeing the transportation logistics and management of a company's fleet of vehicles. The primary goal is to ensure efficient operations, regulatory compliance, cost-effectiveness, and safety of the fleet. This role requires a blend of managerial skills, logistical expertise, and a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and procurement. To ensure that vehicles and drivers are being utilized to their fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Duties /Responsibilities
To ensure vehicles always run safely and efficiently, the fleet manager must direct the following activities:
• Efficient asset utilization and route planning
• Vehicle inspection and maintenance
• Real-time vehicle location tracking
• Vehicle performance monitoring, record keeping, and improvement
• Monitoring, correcting, and improving driving behaviours and operations
• Mentoring and coaching drivers
• Assisting in the recruitment, discipline, and termination of drivers
• Evaluating drivers’ performances
• Setting driving schedules
• Ensuring drivers’ adherence to applicable transport state regulations Maintaining constant communication with drivers
• Training drivers on risk management protocols, safety standards, and more.
• Oversee and schedule vehicle inspection, maintenance, and servicing to minimize downtime
• Maintain all vehicle information and inspection records
• Ensure that drivers follow their designated working hours
• Securely store driver records
• Reduce unnecessary expenses and increase fuel efficiency
• Secure the fleet’s compliance with applicable State regulations
Fleet Management:
Manage the overall operation of the company’s fleet of vehicles.
Develop and implement strategies for efficient vehicle utilization and optimization.
Ensure timely maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize vehicle lifespan. Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, and overall fleet performance.
Logistics Coordination:
Coordinate the movement of vehicles to meet operational demands.
Schedule and oversee vehicle deliveries, pickups, and transfers.
Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Develop and manage the fleet budget, including forecasting and cost analysis.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Implement safety policies and procedures to minimize risks and accidents.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, registrations, and permits.
