Description
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to the employer’s or restaurant’s menu
- Plan daily or weekly menus based on nutritional needs and preferences
- Ensure all meals are prepared in a hygienic and safe environment
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, utensils, and cooking equipment
- Purchase or assist in purchasing fresh ingredients and monitor food stock levels
- Store food properly to prevent spoilage and wastage
- Follow proper food handling and safety standards at all times
- Manage time efficiently to ensure meals are served on schedule
- Cater for special dietary needs (e.g., low salt, diabetic, vegetarian meals)
- Supervise kitchen assistants or helpers (if available)
- Keep records of food items used and report shortages
- Maintain a high standard of taste, presentation, and portion control
- Ensure proper use and care of kitchen appliances
- Be creative in trying new recipes and improving meal quality
