The Assistant Restaurant Manager will support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring the highest levels of service, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, a passion for customer service, and a good understanding of restaurant operations. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing both front-of-house and back-of-house activities, while helping to lead, train, and motivate the team to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Support:
  
  
  • Assist in overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth service and efficient kitchen performance.
  
  
  • Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and service to meet the restaurant's standards.
  
  
  • Assist with inventory management, including tracking stock levels and placing orders for supplies.
  
  
  • Help ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as sanitation and food safety standards.
  
  
  • Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely and high-quality service.
  
  
  
  


• Team Supervision and Development:
  
  
  
  • Supervise and support staff, including servers, cooks, and hosts, to ensure excellent service and operational standards.
  
  
  • Train new employees, providing guidance on restaurant policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
  
  
  • Assist in creating employee schedules, ensuring staffing levels are appropriate for peak times while controlling labour costs.
  
  
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  
  
  • Promote a positive and team-oriented work culture, addressing any conflicts or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  
  
  
  


• Customer Service:
  
  
  
  • Ensure guests receive outstanding service by greeting and interacting with customers, addressing complaints, and resolving issues promptly.
  
  
  • Monitor dining room ambiance, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction to maintain a positive atmosphere.
  
  
  • Support the Restaurant Manager in implementing service strategies and upselling initiatives to enhance the guest experience.
  
  
  
  


• Administrative and Financial Support:
  
  
  
  • Assist with the daily financial tasks, including cash handling, reconciling receipts, and preparing sales reports.
  
  
  • Help manage restaurant costs, including food and beverage costs, labor costs, and overall operational expenses.
  
  
  • Assist in the development of marketing and promotional campaigns to drive traffic and sales.
  
  
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation of all operational activities, including employee timecards, inventory logs, and maintenance requests.
  
  
  
  


• Health & Safety Compliance:
  
  
  
  • Assist with ensuring that the restaurant complies with all local health regulations and restaurant industry standards.
  
  
  • Conduct routine checks of the dining room and kitchen for cleanliness and organization.
