Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced and skilled Reporter to research and deliver high-quality news stories for our publication/broadcast. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing, interviewing, and investigative skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Writing:
1. Research and investigate news stories, conducting interviews and gathering information.
2. Write engaging, accurate, and informative news articles/stories.
3. Meet deadlines and deliver high-quality content.
Interviewing and Investigation:
1. Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and newsmakers.
2. Analyze data and documents to uncover key information.
3. Verify facts and ensure accuracy.
Broadcast/Publishing:
1. Present news stories on-air or online.
2. Create accompanying visual elements (e.g., photos, videos).
3. Optimize stories for search engines and social media.
Collaboration:
1. Work closely with editors, producers, and other reporters.
2. Participate in editorial meetings and planning sessions.
3. Collaborate on special projects and investigations.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
2. Develop and maintain expertise in specific beats (e.g., politics, sports).
3. Adhere to journalistic standards and ethics.
Requirements:
Essential:
1. 2+ years of reporting experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
3. Excellent writing, interviewing, and investigative skills.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable:
1. Master's degree in Journalism or related field.
2. Certification in journalism (e.g., ACE, CNE).
3. Experience with audio/video editing software.
4. Knowledge of SEO and social media optimization.
