Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Inspector with Welding Experience to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring that all welding processes and final products meet the required quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on welding experience and expertise in performing welding inspections using both visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. The QC Inspector will collaborate closely with production teams to ensure that welding procedures comply with industry codes and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Welding Inspection:
Perform thorough visual inspections of welded joints to ensure proper workmanship, compliance with blueprints, and adherence to welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS).
Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), dye penetrant testing (PT), and radiographic testing (RT), as required.
Welding Procedure Compliance:
Review and verify that all welding procedures comply with industry codes, standards, and client specifications. Ensure adherence to welding procedure specifications (WPS) and ensure they are followed during fabrication.
Welder Qualification and Certification:
Ensure all welders are properly qualified and certified to perform specific welding tasks according to relevant industry standards and codes.
Maintain up-to-date records of welder qualifications, certifications, and related documentation.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and welding reports.
Prepare and submit quality reports, including inspection findings and recommendations for corrective actions, to the Quality Control Manager or relevant departments.
Materials & Equipment:
Verify that the correct materials and welding equipment are used and meet the required quality standards. Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent contamination or damage before welding.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot welding issues, recommend process improvements, and ensure that quality standards are consistently maintained.
Monitor welding operations and recommend best practices to improve welding efficiency and quality.
Corrective Actions:
Identify welding defects or non-conformities, initiate corrective actions, and assist in resolving any welding-related issues to maintain product quality and production timelines.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all welding activities adhere to safety regulations and protocols. Promote a culture of safety and quality in the workplace and ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications or a degree in welding, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on welding experience (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick welding) in a production or industrial setting.
Previous experience in quality control or welding inspection is highly desirable.
Certifications:
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent is highly preferred.
Certification in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or radiographic testing is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of welding procedures, welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API), and welding techniques.
Familiarity with welding machines, tools, and safety equipment.
Experience in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
Attention to Detail:
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify welding defects, perform precise measurements, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
