Media Specialist Information
We are looking for someone fit for the position of Director of Broadcasting for a leading Media House based in Nairobi-Kenya. Responsibilities: • Directs the production of live and recorded training events, seminars and segments. • Directs the audio and visual portions of live and recorded broadcasts utilizing production crews and automated production systems. • Interfaces with internal company personnel, as well as a variety of trainers/instructors with various personalities and delivery expertise. • Communicates effectively with training delivery and production support personnel internally and externally. • Gives direction and schedules technical crew for studio production events. • Promotes teamwork and a positive work environment. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Communicates in person, by phone, virtually and by email. • Materials and equipment used: various studio and control room television equipment, computers and computer-related equipment. Applicants with qualifications in journalism, communication/media studies, music technology, performing arts, English and media performance may be preferred. Specific degree subjects may be required for specialist programmes. QUALIFICATIONS • Must have a college degree with a concentration in television production preferred. • Must have four years’ experience working in a TV studio or remote live event production environment. • Must have a strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology including knowledge/skills with, audio mixers, robotic camera controls, production automation systems, non-linear editing systems, and automated on-air play out systems. Familiar with video switchers, character generators, DVE’s and video servers. • Show a demonstrated experience with editing content using non-linear editing systems, audio operation and camera or graphics experience a plus. • Must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to configure, set-up, operate and maintain studio and remote event broadcasting equipment such as Sony, Panasonic, Vaddio, Extron, Creston or Kramer. • Show demonstrated experience with studio and remote event broadcasting equipment. Certification is a plus. • Must possess network/IP connectivity expertise. Knowledge, troubleshooting experience, and skill in managing network connections in a video broadcast environment. • Must have a comprehensive understanding of video codecs and compression used for streaming video and online video archives. • Must have competent understanding/skills related to production, distribution and interactivity of studio delivery and classroom receiving sites. • Must have the ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations. • Must have the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change. • Must be able to work without direct supervision. • Must be dependable, a self-starter and operate with a high degree of accuracy. Having initiative and the ability to motivate others is critical • Must work well under time pressure deadlines and willing to work different shifts or longer shifts due to contingency planning and global distribution. • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate solutions. • Must possess interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and work with people with various personalities and levels of expertise. • Must be adaptable, enthusiastic, have initiative, ability to handle criticism, even temperament and a positive approach to problem solving. • Must enjoy working with people. • Must be able to distinguish colors and discern sounds. • Must be willing to travel.
