Job Description:
As an ICUMS Executive, you will be responsible for overseeing the customs clearance process, ensuring compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) regulations, and managing shipments through the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS). This role requires attention to detail, a thorough understanding of customs regulations, and the ability to provide seamless support to clients and internal teams to ensure efficient import/export operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customs Documentation and Submission:
- Facilitate the preparation and submission of all required customs documentation for imports and exports.
- Process declarations through the ICUMS platform, ensuring compliance with GRA and Customs regulations.
- Input and manage accurate shipment details on the ICUMS platform.
2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor system updates and changes to ensure adherence to updated requirements.
- Ensure all shipments comply with Ghanaian import/export laws, tariffs, and tax obligations.
- Verify compliance with regulations related to restricted and prohibited goods.
3. Payment Processing and Reconciliation:
- Facilitate the payment of customs duties, VAT, and other applicable charges through the ICUMS platform.
- Reconcile payments and receipts for accurate accounting and record-keeping.
4. Issue Resolution:
- Resolve discrepancies or issues raised during customs inspections or processes.
- Address challenges such as delays or document mismatches on ICUMS.
- Work closely with customs officials to expedite the clearance process when issues arise.
5. Shipment Tracking and Reporting:
- Track the status of shipments on the ICUMS platform and provide timely updates to clients.
- Generate detailed reports on customs clearances, taxes, and levies for internal accounting and reporting purposes.
6. Client Advisory and Support:
- Advise clients on customs processes, documentation requirements, and duty obligations.
- Provide prompt solutions to client inquiries related to customs and shipping processes.
7. Risk Mitigation:
- Identify potential risks in customs processes and implement measures to mitigate delays and penalties.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure shipments are pre-cleared effectively to minimize demurrage costs.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on ICUMS system enhancements and updates to improve operational efficiency.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance customs processes and client experiences.
