Introduction - The role of Archives/Records Centers, Importance of archives to organizations. Procedures/Steps for establishing Archives/Records Centers. The last two (2) stages of the Records Lifecycle, i.e.
disposition and destruction. Knowing what records must be kept and for how long. Records Finding Aid for easy referencing. How to begin establishing a formal archives program. Specific types of records worthy of permanent retention. Difference and relationships between Archives and a Records Centers. The basics of protecting records from deterioration and loss. Arrangement and labeling of shelves and Archives boxes. Types of records with potential for long term or archival value. Managing Closed Files in Offices. Key steps involved in carrying out records appraisal and disposal activities. The relationship between the Archives / Records Center and other business units. The Public Records and Archives Administration 1997 (ACT 535), Legal Trends. Using Technology in the Archives/Records Centre. The Archives/Records procedures manual.
