Institute for Security, Disaster and Emergency Studies
The Institute for Security, Disaster and Emergency Studies (ISDES) is an accredited Ghanaian University College, located at the sprawling coconut tree dotted campus along the Gulf of Guinea at Langma, Gomoa East District, CR. Langma borders the scenic ocean-front settlement of Kokrobite.
It is affiliated with the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
ISDES was created in 2008 in the fervent of demands for public health practitioners and researchers in Disaster Resilient Leadership and in Criminology.
The Institute was borne to respond to this urgent national need and in support of the already burdened State Agencies in the rendition of their professional and patriotic duties to the nation and to serve and protect the citizens. It also trains personnel for various corporate positions as well as academic and policy research and national development objectives.
ISDES is the first University-College in Ghana and in the West African Sub-region to provide dedicated programs at both the Bachelor and Graduate level education in Criminology and in Disaster Risk Management.
ISDES is accredited by the National Accreditation Board, Ghana, to run four programs in the first instant, namely: Bachelor of Science, Disaster Risk Management and Bachelor of Science, Criminology, both of which are four-year programs. It also offers Master of Science, Disaster Risk Management, and Master or Science, Criminology, both of which are 12-month programs.
