Disaster Volunteers of Ghana (DIVOG)
Disaster Volunteers of Ghana (DIVOG) is a not for profit, non-partisan non-governmental organisation working to assist in the improvement of the lot of the vulnerable and deprived in society through education and other integrated rural development programmes. DIVOG have developed into a group whose mission is to assist rural and urban dwellers in times of natural or man-made disasters, education, health, environment, empowerment of women and promoting cultural diversity program. DIVOG is based in the Ho district of the Volta region of Ghana. We are registered as a youth charity non-profit Voluntary Organisation in Ghana under the companies code 1963, from the Registrar General Department of Ghana with Registration number G9, 476, the Department of Social Welfare Ghana and a Member of Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organisation (GAPVOD) .
We work with all ages, all genders, and all ethnic groups in Ghana especially at the rural level. The group runs its objectives with the kind contribution of its members, concerned philanthropists, individual volunteers, and others. DIVOG has worked with some individual volunteers of the American Peace Corps Ghana, Stacy Kreger (Awudome Secondary School), Peter Sodden (Amedzofe Community) in their communities.
Some of the members of DIVOG also worked with DC Care International during their HIV AIDS Project, Evangel Community Mission (ECM Ghana), Community Girls Training Centre Ghana and International Medical Student Volunteers from the Section for Tropical Medicine Slovenia. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES # To assist rural and urban dwellers in times of man made or natural disaster. # To promote the development of Ghana's youth # Provide support to the rural folks in terms of education and environment # Provide primary health care and HIV education # Empower women through micro enterprise formations # Promote volunteerism and involve volunteers in programs that enable rural communities to help themselves # Promote cultural diversity programs MEMBERSHIP Membership is open to all interested volunteers irrespective of gender, age, religion, and nationality.
