New Skills for Women
The personal experiences the founder had propelled her to start this NGO to teach young under privileged poor women to acquire some skills they can use for generate income for themselves instead of living at the mercy of people and partners who often abuse them. She believes early direction on what to do for income generation is the New Skills for Women (NSW) is a non-profit organization that was established in December 2002 but was officially registered in March 2007 with the purpose of providing practical skills for women especially those from underprivileged communities.? The women are trained in bead-making, hair braiding and bread making.
They are also provided with skills in entrepreneurship and given materials and funds to start income generation. To date close to seventy (70) women have graduated from the centre. NSW is confident and committed to making a difference in the community by training underprivileged girls and equipping them to become economically independent thereby enabling them to face challenges that may come their way..
