Cargill Ghana Limited
Cargill’s physical presence in Ghana began in 2007, with the construction of Cargill’s state of the art cocoa processing facility in the port of Tema, Ghana. Built with the latest technology and processing 65,000 metric tons of cocoa beans according to the highest food safety standards, it has become a real asset in supplying high quality cocoa powders and cocoa butter to global food manufacturers for use in products like chocolate, biscuits, chocolate drinks and ice cream all over the world. The facility - fully operational since 2008 - directly employs over 400 people (including permanent and contract staff) and indirectly employs many more, supporting Ghana’s growing economy. Traditionally Ghanaian cocoa beans are among the finest in the world. These beans, combined with Cargill’s many years of expertise in processing cocoa, are processed into high quality products.
The Ghanaian cocoa powders are ready to be used worldwide without further processing and are offered as part of the Gerkens® global range of cocoa powders. They have a unique, mild and rounded flavour.
Reflecting the quality of the Ghana cocoa beans the cocoa powders are sold under the ‘The good taste of Ghana' label. Customers are now able to benefit from new colours and flavours in natural, lightly and highly alkalized cocoa powders..
