Be-Great Promotions
Be-Great Promotions (Be-Great) was incorporated in Ghana in July 2010 as a limited liability company to operate as cultural sports and event planning organization. The dream of setting up Be-Great to be a pacesetter of promoting Ghana’s indigenous games and inevitably taking these cultural sports globally was turned into reality when two government departments and a number of elite private organisations proposed to offer variety of supports to Be-Great’s initiative. Like most African countries, Ghana has rich and enviable traditional games that differ from most countries in Africa.
Albeit Ghana is recognised as among the most successful countries in the world who have achieved so much in world most-followed sports, Be-Great believe the accolades are not enough as Ghana has so much traditional sports or games, that, when re-developed and introduced to the global dimension, would be able to make a huge impact on health, entertainment, peace building, crime reduction, education, etc. At the offices of Be-Great in Accra, London, Nigeria and Paris are a team of researchers working indefatigably to find an inevitable value that could be perceived as catalyst in the selected Ghanaian cultural games. For example, the Ampe game maintained as the flag-bearer of all the indigenous games is played on a mounted-platform or similarly, the boxing arena, and with fashionable Kente skirt and blouse outfit, well-designed ladies footwear, in lieu of utilising the colonial approach of ‘any how’ dress. Be-Great became the first traditional promotional game organisation to be officially recognised when it was launched at the Ghana’s National Theatre on the 17th of December 2011.
The launching ceremony attracted government officials, Heads of educational institutions, Directors, Members of the various Royal Families..
