Sony has rolled out a new PS Portal update, which allows players to bypass their PS5 consoles and stream games directly from the PS Plus catalog. The cloud streaming portion of the update is currently in beta, and only available to PS Plus Premium members in countries where the tier is available.

You can now change settings for your PS Link devices on PS Portal. Connect your PS Link device to your PS Portal, and in the quick menu, select Settings > PS Link Device.
Cloud Streaming (Beta) is now available. PlayStation Plus Premium members can play select streaming games for PS5 from the Game Catalog. Open Quick Menu > Settings > Cloud Streaming.
We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
Here are the cloud streaming features currently available in beta:
Stream select PS5 games in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog only (PS4, PS3 games and Game Trials not available in beta)
Streaming up to 1080p/60fps
DualSense wireless controller features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, speakers, touchpad (emulated on the touch screen for PS Portal), and motion sensor
PlayStation Plus Cloud storage
Save data and game progress can be stored up to 100GB and will be automatically synced with your PS5 console, making it easy to switch seamlessly between local and streaming gameplay, and between multiple devices.
Minimum requirements for cloud streaming are 5 Mbps upload and download speeds to establish a session. 720p streaming requires a minimum of 7 Mbps and 1080p streaming requires a minimum of 13 Mbps.
Features not available in beta include Party voice chat, game invites, Create button, 3D audio, and microtransactions.
Sony has pledged to evolve PS Portal’s remote playing experience starting with update 4.0.0, and has said that it’s “delighted” with players’ response thus far. PS Portal owners have long been demanding the ability to stream without the need for a PS5, and have welcomed the update.
