Honduras' de facto government announced Monday that the night-time curfew declared earlier was extended into daytime Tuesday for fears of protests in favour of ousted President Manuel Zelaya.
Earlier, the de facto Honduran government on Monday restored the curfew in the country which will be valid from at 16:00 (2200 GMT) to 7:00 a.m. (1300 GMT). Now the curfew will be on until Tuesday evening, said the government in a statement.
Zelaya was ousted on June 28 and taken by force to Costa Rica. Since then, the de facto government ordered a curfew from 21:00 (0300 GMT) to 6:00 a.m. (1200 GMT). The curfew had later been reduced and suspended.
The deposed president announced his surprising return to Honduras Monday and is currently hosted at the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa, where thousands of his followers gathered to demand his restitution in power.
