Reverend Father Reneus Zenge, a Catholic Priest at Wa, on Sunday said the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was a selfless politician who lived his life for Ghana and Africa and therefore the centenary of his birth was worth celebrating.
He said the celebration should offer the platform for Ghanaians to remember the good works of the late first President of the nation for them to emulate him for the development of the country.
Reverend Father Zenge was speaking to the Ghana News Agency on his views on the significance of the celebration for the nation at Saint Andrews Catholic Cathedral, Wa.
"Nkrumah made history and as it is not everybody who can make history, we should celebrate him as we celebrate the Saints for the good work they did", he said.
He pointed out that in life, no matter how good a person is to his or her neighbours, community or the nation, he or she would have detractors however, the fact that Nkrumah was arguably the greatest African politician must be acknowledged.
He called on Ghanaians to see the celebration as an occasion to forge national unity.
