Madagascan Defence Minister Cécile Manorohanta resigned here on Monday.
In a statement published by a private radio Antsiva at 10:00 am (0700 GMT), Cecile Manorohanta declared that her conscience did not support the killing between Madagascans, which took place here Saturday afternoon.
"In the wake of Saturday's tragic events that I do not understand the reason, I declare that I resign not to be member of the Madagascan government," Manorohanta said.
Manorohanta said that she was appointed as Defense minister by President Marc Ravalomanana on Oct. 27, 2007 to maintain security of the people but not to kill them.
Manorohanta was president of the University of Antsiranana, a coastal port city, 1,251 kilometers north of here, before being successor of a military official Behajaina Peter.
