Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held talks on Tuesday with visiting Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on the latest developments of the Palestinian issue.
The two leaders tackled the Egyptian efforts to restore a truce between Israel and the Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip.
The six-month truce, brokered by Egypt, expired last Friday following failed efforts to resume the truce or extend it for another six months.
According to the Egyptian MENA news agency, Mubarak and Abbas also discussed the ongoing efforts exerted for the resumption of an inter-Palestinian dialogue to reach Palestinian national reconciliation.
The inter-Palestinian dialogue, which was scheduled for Nov. 10 in Cairo, was boycotted by Hamas movement that took over Gaza by force in June 2007.
During the talks with Mubarak, Abbas also reviewed the outcome of his recent visits to Moscow and Washington, said MENA.
