The third round of national dialogue session grouping 14 Lebanese rival leaders ended here Monday, by a decision to form a military specialized committee that would look into all defence strategy suggestions, LBC TV reported.
The session, which was headed by President Michel Suleiman, at the presidential palace, was adjourned until January 22.
A statement issued after the session called to abide with state norms in serving the higher interest of Lebanon, and called for political solidarity with Gaza, warning against dangers that could immerge due to regional circumstances.
The statement also called for resuming discussions on a defence strategy, and working to find common grounds among various groups.
On Monday morning, the session was opened here by president Suleiman, who presented a roundup on the latest developments in the country, which was followed by a 10-page proposal on the defence strategy presented by Lebanese Forces party (LF) Chief Samir Geagea.
However, the weapons of the Shiite group Hezbollah are the main targets of the national defence strategy.
Earlier Monday, Press reports said that Geagea's proposal is very much similar to the Swiss model relying on state controlled popular resistance.
Several proposals were released earlier, mainly that of Christian opposition leader Michel Aoun, who submitted a blueprint in the last dialogue session in November, calling for a defence strategy based on promoting popular resistance. But, Aoun's model was described by his opponents as chaotic.
Early on Sunday, The ruling majority, March 14 leaders issued a statement calling to adopt a national defence strategy based on UN resolution 1701.
The resolution brought an end of hostility in 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel and demanded that Hezbollah should be disarmed.
