The political parties contesting the December 7, Presidential Elections would cast lots to determine their positions on the Ballot Paper, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Monday.
Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, EC Chairman told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the date for the balloting would be announce after the filling of nomination by the presidential aspirants and their subsequent vetting by the Commission.
The EC has fixed October 20 and October 21 for the filling of nominations throughout the country for both presidential and parliamentary nominees.
The EC Chairman said the ballot papers to be used in voting at both the presidential and parliamentary elections would bear the photographs and symbols of the candidates.
Dr Afari-Gyan said the name, picture and symbol of a vice presidential candidate would not appear on the ballot paper.
Where two parties support one presidential candidate, only the particulars of the candidate's party would appear.
In the 1992 and 1996 General Election, the candidates were arranged on the notice of poll and ballot papers according to the time of filling nominations.
However, the EC used the balloting system in Election 2000.
Balloting for the last General Election was done on September 5, 2000.
