Accra Hearts of Oak have announced that goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027.
The 25-year-old has committed his long-term future to the Ghana Premier League giants despite reported interest from Moroccan heavyweights Raja Casablanca and three unnamed French clubs.
In an official statement released on Thursday, April 10, the club announced: “Asare, Captain of Hearts of Oak, signed the new two-year contract extension this morning following a fruitful discussion with the Board of Directors.”
Asare’s stock has risen sharply in recent months, following standout performances for the Ghana national team. He made a strong debut in a 5-0 victory over Chad and impressed again with a clean sheet against Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
His impressive form has earned the trust of Ghana head coach Otto Addo, who has named Asare as the Black Stars' new first-choice goalkeeper ahead of long-standing options Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.
Since joining Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics in 2024, Asare has been a commanding presence in goal, earning plaudits for both his domestic and international performances.
"I feel really excited to have been given the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in world football. Hearts of Oak has lifted my image and the only way to repay the confidence they have shown in me is to extend my contract, play my heart out for the team to contribute positively and work for success for this team. I will urge my teammates to remain focused and give their all to continue to work for success for the team," Asare said after signing the contract.
He remains a key figure for Hearts of Oak in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, as the club continues its pursuit of the league title.
