FIFA has confirmed a participation fee of $ 9.55 million for each of the four African teams competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup (CWC).

The inaugural edition of the revamped FIFA CWC will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025.

The four African clubs participating in the tournament are Al Ahly of Egypt, Esperance of Tunisia, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, and Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco.

These teams will each receive the same amount as the clubs from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).

This generous payout is part of the USD 1 billion prize pool set for the tournament’s first edition, which will feature 32 clubs.

FIFA's official website emphasized that this solidarity payment is a significant step in making football more global, with the new distribution model designed to benefit clubs worldwide.

The statement read: “In line with the budgetary principles for the FIFA CWC and fruitful discussions with key stakeholders, including the European Club Association, as well as approval from the FIFA Council, FIFA has confirmed the distribution model for this new club competition that includes USD 1 billion in prize money for the 32 participating clubs, as well as a groundbreaking global solidarity model.”

This distribution model represents the highest-ever prize pool for a football tournament, comprising a seven-match group stage and a playoff format, with winners potentially taking home USD 125 million.

Moreover, FIFA has introduced an unprecedented solidarity investment programme, aiming to provide an additional USD 250 million to club football globally.

"FIFA will not retain any funds for this tournament, as all revenues will be distributed to club football," the organization added. "Furthermore, FIFA's reserves will not be used for this tournament, as they are set aside for global football development through the 211 FIFA Member Associations."
