The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Ghana has officially introduced Professor Youhwan Kim as its new Technical Advisor and Sports Development Director.
The ceremony, held at the NPC-Ghana Secretariat in Accra, marks the start of Professor Kim's one-year tenure, during which he will provide technical expertise to advance para sports in Ghana.
In his welcome address, NPC-Ghana President Samson Deen expressed deep appreciation to the Korean Government, the Korean National Paralympic Committee, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for their unwavering support of Ghana’s Paralympic movement.
"We are grateful to the Korean Government and KOICA for deploying Professor Kim to assist us in developing para sports in Ghana. This partnership is a testament to the shared commitment to empowering athletes with disabilities," Mr Deen said.
Professor Kim, who was deployed through KOICA, brings extensive experience in para sports development to his new role. Speaking at the ceremony, he expressed enthusiasm for contributing to Ghana’s Paralympic journey.
"I can see the excitement from the streets, and I believe Ghana has a bright future in para sports," Professor Kim stated. "I will do my best during my one-year stay here, and I look forward to your guidance and support."
During his tenure, Professor Kim is expected to focus on providing technical advice, enhancing capacity building, and creating a roadmap for Ghana's qualification for the 2028 Paralympic Games.
