Accra, Ghana – January 2025 – Ghana's water polo revolution takes center stage at the 4th Annual Black Star Polo Water Polo Tournament, an exciting event designed to develop our athletes and prepare our nation for the ultimate goal: bringing home gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
This year's tournament promises thrilling competition, hands-on training opportunities, and community engagement as we continue building a legacy in aquatic sports.
This is more than a tournament; it's a developmental event aimed at grooming Ghanaian athletes and referees for international competition. The matches will feature top teams from Kumasi, the Central Region, and Accra, competing for victory and showcasing the rising talent that makes Ghana a strong contender for Olympic success.
We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Tony Karaman, a distinguished Water Polo Official at USA Water Polo, who will bring his international expertise to Ghana. Mr. Karaman will conduct training clinics for referees and aspiring swimmers, helping to elevate the skills and knowledge of Ghana's water polo community to international standards.
"Ghana has incredible potential," Mr. Karaman remarked. "The talent and determination I've seen here prove that this country is on the path to making a historic impact in water polo."
The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are within reach, and this tournament is a critical step on Ghana's road to victory. Black Star Polo is proud to lead this effort, but the journey requires the continued support of our community. Every cheer, every donation, and every ounce of encouragement helps bring us closer to making Olympic history.
"This is a movement to show the world that Ghana is ready—not just to participate but to win," said Prince Kofi Asante Sefa-Boakye, Founder of Black Star Polo.
This tournament is a celebration of Ghanaian talent, determination, and unity. It's an opportunity for the community to come together and be part of a legacy that's bigger than sports.
Leading up to the event, join our training clinics to learn the rules of the game, develop your skills, or train as a referee. These clinics, led by Mr. Tony Karaman, are designed to prepare Ghana's water polo community for the global stage.
