The Tennis Foundation Ghana Open ITF J60, a six-week tennis competition, concluded with a flurry of exciting matches and impressive performances from young talents.
Alisha Ndukwu and Prosper Okonkwo dominate
British sensation Alisha Ndukwu continued her strong form, capturing her second singles title of the year. She overcame Tunisia's Lamiss Housa in a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory. "I'm really playing great tennis," Ndukwu said. "With every match, I feel better and better, and I hope to keep building on this momentum in Senegal."
In the boys' singles final, Nigerian star Prosper Ikenna Okonkwo emerged victorious once again, defeating fellow countryman Daniel Adeleye 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-3. "This is the third time we've met in Ghana," Okonkwo said. "I'm happy to beat my fellow countrymen twice here. I'm getting better, and I'll be preparing for other ITF tournaments outside Nigeria."
Doubles success
In the doubles events, Tunisian-Zimbabwean duo Lamiss Houas and Sasha Natalie Chimedze clinched the girls' doubles title, defeating the British pair of Alisha Ndukwu and Grace Chiwinke 6-2, 6-2.
The boys' doubles title went to the Nigerian duo of Prosper Okonkwo and Joseph Franklin Jimoh, who defeated the Belgian pair of Jules Dannevoye and Louis Mouffe 6-3, 6-1.
The six-week tournament, sponsored by Tennis Foundation Ghana with support from Égalité Sports Bar and Restaurant and Second Serve Tennis Shop, provided a valuable platform for young tennis players to showcase their skills and compete at a high level.
