Africa Hockey Federation Club Championship title holders, Royal Ladies of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), are eyeing a successful title defence at the next competition scheduled for Port Said, Egypt, from January 17 to 29, 2025.
As four-time champions, the GRA Royal Ladies hold the distinction of being the only Ghanaian club to have ever clinched the prestigious African title.
They secured their place at this year’s championship as the defending champions and winners of the Greater Accra Hockey League.
Adding to their list of achievements, the Royal Ladies recently emerged victorious at the Oguaa Fetu Afahye hockey competition held in Cape
Coast, further solidifying their reputation as a powerhouse in African hockey.
They will be joined in Port Said by their male counterparts, who finished runners-up at the 2018 edition in Abuja.
The men's team qualified for the upcoming championship after securing second place in the local league and later crowned their season by winning the T. Tommy tournament in Kumasi.
The coach of the women’s team, Ebenezer Frimpong, expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation. "We have intensified our training but are mindful of not overexerting ourselves to ensure we maintain peak performance when the tournament pushes off," he declared.
Both teams are focused on fine-tuning their strategies and conditioning ahead of the championship, with rigorous training scheduled through December to sharpen their skills before the competition begins.
