The Technical Director of the Ghana Blind Sports Association, David Tweneboah Koduah, has expressed frustration over the insufficient funds impeding the association’s activities.
The association has proposed dates for the National Goal ball Showdown Championships, scheduled to occur in two zones: the Northern Zone in Bolgatanga and the Southern Zone in Cape Coast, pending council approval.
In an interview with Citi Sports, David revealed that the association forwarded its calendar and roadmap for the year to the Ministry of Youth and Sports via the NSA as early as September last year but is yet to receive funds for the organization of the upcoming events.
This is a worrying issue because we don’t have any source of funding for our activities .
Sometimes members will tell you, you are collapsing our sports because there are no activities.
When it comes to our calendar and road map for every year, this was done way back last year September , went sent our calendar to the ministry of youth and sports through the national sports authority and did same to the national Paralympic committee .”
They have our activity lineup. They are ready to support us.
The only thing is we need our national executive councils approval so that we can take it from there.”
The aim of the National Goal Ball Championships is to select athletes who will represent the nation in future competitions.
The northern zone is made up of Upper East , Upper West , Northern, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti while the southern zone comprises of Central, Western ,Eastern ,Volta and Greater Accra.
The super zonals will be staged in Bolgatanga on the 28th of September this year.
