Supersport has renewed a production and broadcast partnership arrangement with Box Office Sports Promotions. This partnership brings to boxing fans across Africa and Ghana in particular, exclusive top quality live coverage of the Ghana Independence Weekend Rumble dubbed “Bukom Brawl” on the 5th March 2019 DStv and GOtv. This seven bout event, exclusive to SuperSport will be headlined by the rematch between National Lightweight Champion Sheriff Quaye and Michael Ansah.

Speaking at a promotional event in Bukom, Alex Ntiamaoh, CEO of Box Office Sports Promotion announced that this partnership with SuperSport over the years has not only provided a refocus on boxing development in Ghana, exposure and revenue generation for boxers. This has showcased the rich boxing prowess and traditions of Ghana to world resulting in the international bouts billed for the night including International Super Welterweight contest between Joshua Clottey and Tanzanian Mfume Mfume and WBO Africa Cruiserweight championship between Ghana’s Abraham Tabul and Patrick Ferguson of the United States”.
According to Alex Ntiamaoh-Boakye the other bouts on the night would see Ghana’s, Prince Dzanie take on Loren Japhet of Tanzania in a bantamweight contest over 10 rounds.
The bill will also have a cruiserweight contest over 10 rounds between Nigeria’s Olanrewaju Durodola and Pascal Ndoma from Tanzania while Maxwell Awuku would take on Togolese Mouibi Serouna Armstrong in a Super Featherweight contest over 10 rounds. “The Quaye vrs Ansah rematch is expected to settle once and for all the debatable verdict of their October 2018 bout” he added. Gates open from 5.00 pm.
