Adebayor, a former striker for European powerhouses including Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid in a post on Instagram revealed that he has always wanted to own a private road.

According to him, the commencement of the project is proof that if you want something in life you must fight for it.

The millionaire footballer posted: "...I have always wanted to have my private road. Today I am able to put the project together. Here I am dancing on my private road leading to my house some. If you want something in life, believe in it and most importantly fight for it..."

He later asked his over 800,000 followers for suggestions about how he should name the road when it is completed.

Adebayor's post was accompanied by a video of himself and some friends dancing on an untarred road which sources say is the site of the road in Lome, Togo.

After some personal troubles with his family which affected his performances on the pitch, the 34-year-old has returned to form returning 19 goals in 38 appearances after signing for Turkish Super Lig side ?stanbul Ba?ak?ehir as a free agent after he was released by Crystal Palace.

?stanbul Ba?ak?ehir is currently locked in a four-way race for the Turkish Super Lig title with Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fernabache.

On May 5, 2015, Adebayor made a lengthy post on his public Facebook page describing his family troubles. These troubles included several relatives asking for large amounts of money, his sister renting out a house he had bought for her without him knowing, and complications surrounding the death of his brother Peter. In July 2017, Adebayor stated in an interview regarding his family issues that his late brother had sent an official letter to Real Madrid asking them to not keep Adebayor on after his loan spell.

Months later in July 2015, Adebayor, a practising Christian converted to Islam in a ceremony recorded and posted to YouTube.

Then a striker for Tottenham, Adebayor was seen wearing white robes taking part in the Shahada, a ceremony in which one declares belief in 'the oneness of Allah and acceptance of Muhammad as his prophet'.
