South Africa's participation at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang ended in a tangle of limbs as Alpine skier Connor Wilson failed to finish in both the giant slalom and slalom events.
The giant slalom, held on Sunday, saw Wilson crash out on the first run and fail to qualify for a second attempt, and then Wednesday's slalom event saw him fail to complete his first run as well after he lost his footing.
The other African participant, Shannon Abeda of Eritrea, had similarly poor luck in the slalom, as he too failed to complete his first run and thus missed out on a second go. He did, however, finish both his giant slalom runs on the weekend and finished in 61st place.
The slalom gold medal was won by Andre Myhrer of Sweden, while Switzerland's Ramon Zenhausern took silver and Michael Matt of Austria claimed the bronze.
