Arab League (AL), United Nations, European Union, African Union and the Organization of Islamic Conference urged on Thursday in AL headquarters in Cairo a political solution on Libyan crisis starting with immediate ceasefire.
AL Secretary General Moussa said at the opening of the meeting on Libyan crisis that the Libyan crisis is mainly humanitarian and so today's meeting is meant to review all suggestions to solve the crisis in the war-torn North African country.
The meeting came one day after the international contact group' s meeting in the Qatari capital of Doha to address the Libyan crisis.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said this meeting is to complement London and Doha meetings, and reiterated the importance of a cease-fire to solve the Libyan crisis and ensuring the freedom and democracy of Libyan people.
"I have been urging Libyan authorities to stop fighting and allow humanitarian assistance," Ban said at a press conference held in Cairo.
"Killing his own people, this is totally unacceptable; this is the violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. I believe he has lost completely his legitimacy," Ban added.
He also stressed the challenges of the political dialogue and post-conflict reconstruction of Libya.
He stressed the necessity for mutual coordination to reach political solution for the Libyan crises, hoping for "one voice and one international situation" in dealing with the crises and to control the political and humanitarian catastrophe in Libya.
EU foreign policy Chief Ashton called to reach a political solution, stressing the need for comprehensive political process to enable the Libyan to determine their future.
"It is highly important for united movements by the international society towards the special convey of the UN secretary general in Libya and full cooperation between UN and the regional organizations," she added.
She said this meeting will encourage more support to Libyans to achieve people's legitimate ambitions in democracy, peace and stability.
Moussa emphasized the importance of reaching a ceasefire to solve the Libyan crisis, saying that the meeting is very important and discussed how to boost political movements and ensuring the freedom of speech of the Libyan people.
He said three challenges facing Libya, namely ceasefire, political dialogue and construction afterwards.
Moussa said the collective actions under the frame of Security Council among Arab states, Europe Union, Islamic conference organization and others are very important.
He said the Libyan leader must stop fighting and has lost his legitimacy, the whole Arab region is heading for freedom and democracy.
The head of Organization of Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said the most important thing is to achieve ceasefire and the political dialogue must comprise all of groups and powers in Libya.
The meeting in Doha achieved that the Libyan tragedy is not a natural crisis but it rooted from political decisions and situations, so it should also be solved by political ways not decisions to rescue victims, and the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi should step down so the political process can start.
The contact group was set up in London at an international ministerial conference on March 29 on the initiative of the British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
