The Agona East District Assembly has apologized to three chiefs who were not invited to its inauguration on March 15.
The chief are Nana Kojo Amuakwa V, Duakwahene and Krontihene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Ampim Darko V, Kwanyakohene and Kyidomhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area and Nana Yamfo Asuako X, Asafohene and Nifahene of Nyakrom Traditional Area.
A statement made available to the GNA said the mistake would not happen again.
It said it was an unpardonable mistake which was brought to the notice of the assembly by the Member of Parliament for the area and was accepted in good faith.
The chiefs held a press conference at Agona Kwanyako and described the Assembly’s action as discriminatory and demanded an apology and explanation.
They said their counterparts at the Nsaba Traditional Area, the district capital, were formally invited to the function and they attended.
The chiefs said even though they are traditionally under the Nyakrom Traditional Area in the Agona West Municipality, their traditional areas formed part of the new Agona East District and should be contacted on daily activities of the Assembly.
