Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, has commended the Nkoranza
South District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum for his hard work.
The paramount chief made the commendation whilst addressing his divisional chiefs and elders at his palace, after accompanying the DCE
to inspect completed and on-going development projects initiated by the assembly between 2009 and 2010.
The projects included school blocks with library facilities and toilets, as well as clinics and nurses’ quarters.
The Omanhene said he was overwhelmed about the good and effective leadership exhibited by the DCE by ensuring such development projects
in almost every school in the district, “which is a mark of fair distribution of the national cake”.
He described Mr Agyekum as “an outstanding leader and servant who is development-oriented,” noting that the provision of the educational
infrastructure would significantly help improve the standard of education in the area.
“I have experienced the works of about eight DCEs since I became the Omanhene but your performance within this short period of your
administration has been splendid and extraordinary,” Okatakyie Agyeman-Kudom said.
The Omanhene urged chiefs in the beneficiary communities to ensure the people handled the facilities properly for a longer lifespan.
Mr Agyekum announced that the assembly had purchased about 8,000 pieces of furniture for distribution to schools and the next target of
the District Assembly was to construct teachers’ bungalows in the very deprived community.
“Lack of accommodation has compelled some teachers to commute from other towns to their schools, a problem that has affected the
standard of education in the communities,” he said.
Meanwhile the Nkoranza Traditional Council has decided to honour the DCE as “Sompahene” of Nkoranza.
