Finland on Saturday sent a batch of relief supplies to Tunisia to help Libyan refugees who fled to the country recently, Finnish media reported.
According to the report, the relief goods, including 60,000 blankets, over 50 tents and some 20 heaters, were one of the largest batches of supplies that the Finnish Red Cross has ever transported. The Finnish Foreign Ministry had provided financing for the supplies.
A cargo plane carrying the goods and three aid workers departed from Tampere in south Finland on Saturday evening for Tunisia.
Ten other Finnish Red Cross workers had arrived in Tunisia earlier, helping in refugee relief work on the Tunisia-Libyan border.
The Finnish Broadcasting Company reported that more than 100, 000 Libyan refugees have fled to Tunisia since February 20.
