Mr Amo Larbi, Assembly Member for Dawu-Bronmu Electoral Area in the Akuapem North District says education and sanitation would be his main priorities.
Outlining his vision in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Dawu on Tuesday, Mr Larbi expressed worry about the falling standard of education in the community and reiterated his commitment to do all he could to help to address the situation.
The 53-year-old businessman, noted with concern that for some time now, children from Dawu were not performing well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), as a result, they were not able to gain admission into Senior High Schools.
Mr Larbi said as a first step to tackle the problem, he had already met with the heads of basic schools in the community and would soon come out with rules and regulations, which would ban school children from going out after 1900 hours.
He assured that he would soon set up an education endowment fund to help brilliant but needy children from the community to further their education to the highest level.
On sanitation, Mr Larbi noted that the community had no land fill site at the moment because the old site was full and promised to meet the community to discuss the matter and find a suitable place for it.
He expressed concern about the high rate of unemployment among the youth in the community and disclosed that he had contacted the National and District Coordinators of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) to ensure that some young people from the area were engaged.
Mr Larbi urged the people to be guided by the development needs of the people and strove for unity and peace in the area. He added that they should do away with political differences and rally behind him to bring development to the area.
