Alhaji Issahaque Salia, the Upper West Regional Minister, has lauded the prevailing peace in the Lambussie/Karni District and appealed to the people to sustain it.
He said this when he inaugurated a 45,000 Ghana cedi District Wide Assistance Project funded Community Based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound at Chetu on Tuesday to serve a population of 2,096.
A similar structure had been constructed at Kulkarni at a cost of 46,566.37 Ghana Cedis while seven more of the facilities would be built in some communities in the district in partnership with Japanese International Development Agency (JICA).
Alhaji Salia said the objective of these CHPS compounds was to bring quality health care services to the doorsteps of the people.
Mr. Clement B. Benin, Lambussie/Karni District Chief Executive, appealed to the people to report to health facilities with their illnesses and avoid herbalists who could cause complications.
He said the assembly had sponsored a medical student and 87 student nurses while 44 health extension workers were undergoing training under the National Youth Employment Programme to help man health facilities in the district.
Mr. Benin commended the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Japanese International Development Agency (JICA) for their immense support for the district assembly in the implementation of development projects.
The Chief of the Chetu, Naa Maasagyir Dapillah, appealed to the government to provide electricity and water for the CHPS to make it operate efficiently.
