The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Ransford Ninson, on Thursday asked political parties not to get involve in the forth-coming District Level Elections.
He indicated that since the election is non-partisan, there was no for political parties to compete for votes which may result in rancour.
DCOP Ninson was inaugurating the Regional Electoral Security Taskforce in Koforidua towards the December 28 District Level Elections.
He indicated that it was the responsibility of the Security Agencies in the country to ensure that there was law and order to enable the electorate cast their votes in a serene environment.
DCOP Ninson said in order to observe and have peaceful elections before, during and after the elections, it was incumbent on the Security
Agencies to merge forces to achieve the onerous task.
He indicated the taskforce was being inaugurated to ensure that the electorate in the Region cast their votes to elect their local leaders to steer the affairs of their localities in the line with the decentralization process.
DCOP Ninson said the taskforce among other things would be receiving electoral materials from the Electoral Commission, intensification of
Highway and "confidence patrols" to ensure uninterrupted movement of EC officials and materials.
The taskforce would also ensure that there are security personnel at all polling stations in the Region and give feedback to the National
Security Taskforce among others.
The Regional Commander appealed to all qualified electorates to come out in their numbers to cast their votes to elect their leaders to represent them at the Assemblies since the Security Agencies are poised to provide
them the needed security to enable them exercise their franchise come December 2.
DCOP Bernard Guyiri Derry, National Commander of Services Workshop and Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Richmond Boi Bi Boi, Director Operations were present at the function.
